Old stones, mature wines
Ingelheim history meets mature Ingelheim wines: The Ingelheim tour guides take on the "old stones" part in the form of a one-hour tour in Nieder Ingelheim. Afterwards, the participating wineries present three mature top wines as part of a small wine tasting, and there is a secco as a welcome.
Meeting point: Museum at the Imperial Palace, Francois-Lacheal-Platz 5, 55218 Ingelheim
Start: 3 p.m.
Duration approx. 2 hours (60-minute tour followed by wine tasting)
Imperial Palace meets Mett & Weidenbach Winery
First we travel with you to the early Middle Ages: We walk in the footsteps of Charlemagne through the Ingelheim Imperial Palace. European history was written at these locations, meetings were held, important embassies were received and magnificent festivals were celebrated. Experience living history that still shapes the cityscape today.
Afterwards, winemaker Jürgen Mett will welcome you to his winery with a secco and present three matured wines. Be excited to see what development potential the Ingelheim wines have.
Information about the winery
‘The term ‘winemaker’ doesn’t really fit – ‘vine whisperer’, ‘grape expert’ is more appropriate.’ - This quote from Jürgen Mett illustrates his philosophy. The winemaker is a spontaneous and energetic lateral thinker, and this is also evident in his work. A lot of gut feeling – both in decisions in the vineyard and in the cellar – is always involved, nothing is set in stone, everything can be questioned and optimized again. He is driven by his vision of creating great wines with expressiveness and an unmistakable personality.
Typical for the Mett-Weidenbachs is a robust, plump red wine, which can develop its aromas and length through a long mash fermentation time in combination with storage in wooden barrels.
