Osthofener Goldberg

Miniature castles, church on a hill and Riesling on limestone

Site names with "gold" are beautiful - and frequent. They refer to the esteem in which the site is held. The "Osthofener Goldberg" is a limestone site and brings a cool, salty minerality to the wines. Winegrowers cherish especially Rieslings from this vineyard like a treasure. But also Chardonnay and other varieties. A chapel was built on the mountain as early as the Middle Ages, in the 6th century. It was dedicated to Saint Remigius, Bishop of Reims. The parish basilica was built in the 11th century. Even today, the mountain church is enthroned up there. In the center of the site: the "White Cottage", built in the second half of the 19th century, just as well as a table of wine.

> Osthofen has numerous vineyard cottages from the 19th century, built by wealthy winegrowers' families in the style of the Gründerzeit. Besides the "White Cottage" there is the "Red Cottage", the "Blümel Cottage" and the most beautiful among them: the Leckzapfen. See the location Osthofener Leckzapfen.
