‘Old stones - new wines": city history meets wine enjoyment

Following the successful premiere in 2024, Ingelheim Kultur und Marketing GmbH (IkUM) and the Ingelheim tour guides are once again offering exciting guided tours in 2025 under the motto ‘Old stones - new wines’. Ingelheim's town history meets wine enjoyment in this format. The historical part of the ‘old stones’ is taken over by the Ingelheim tour guides, who bring historical Ingelheim to life in a one-hour tour. Three wineries from Großwinternheim and Ober-Ingelheim are responsible for the ‘new wines’ part, each of which is located in the neighbourhood of the historical sites that are highlighted during the guided tours. After the tour, the participating wineries will each present four freshly bottled wines from their new 2024 vintage as part of a small wine tasting.

The three-part series ‘Old stones - new wines’ starts on Friday, 21 March at 5 pm with an event in Großwinternheim. Under the motto ‘Selztaldom meets Weingut Huster’, participants will learn interesting details about the Protestant parish church in the Großwinternheim district, popularly known as the ‘Selztaldom’. The church is an outstanding example of late 19th century church architecture. On a detour to the cemetery, you can discover other historical monuments (such as the veteran's stone and the mausoleum). Afterwards, organic winegrower Raimund Huster will present his young wines at his winery. The meeting point is at 5 pm at the Protestant church in Großwinternheim, Schwabenheimer Straße/corner of Oberhofstraße.

On Saturday, 22 March at 5 pm, it's ‘Burgkirche meets Hamm Winery’. The one-hour tour will focus on the Ober-Ingelheim castle church area with its imposing fortifications. The area is steeped in history and contains numerous artefacts from the Middle Ages and the Reformation period that are well worth seeing. After the tour, the Hamm winery will present its freshly bottled wines directly at the winery. The meeting point is at 5 pm at the castle church in Ober-Ingelheim (street ‘An der Burgkirche’)

On Sunday, 23 March at 5 pm, everything revolves around historic Ober-Ingelheim. At the ‘Ober-Ingelheim meets Weingut Wasem Doppelstück’ event, participants will be taken on a short walk through the district. In addition to the castle church, there are also old aristocratic courtyards, magnificent baroque buildings and some picturesque nooks and crannies to discover. Afterwards, the team from the Wasem Doppelstück winery will present a selection of young wines at the winery. The meeting point is at 5 pm in front of the old town hall in Ober-Ingelheim (market square).

The cost of the package with guided tour and wine tasting is 20 euros per person and event. Payment is to be made to the tour guide. The minimum number of participants is 10.
