In search of protection - overcoming borders
Intercultural city tour

When people are on the run, they often encounter insurmountable borders and resistance. These can be of a very different nature: from heavily guarded border installations and fences to endless deserts and vast seas. They separate us, deter us and can often only be overcome at the risk of our lives. In Ingelheim, the Rhine has formed a natural, cultural and economic border between different peoples and regions since time immemorial. Together with experts and contemporary witnesses, we would like to explore the exciting question of what role the Rhine has played as a border and important trade route in history. We also want to explore which invisible borders, such as language barriers or prejudices, still exist in people's minds today. Let's discover the stories behind these borders together and understand how they shape the way we live together!

A cooperation with the Office for Diversity and Equal Opportunities and the Advisory Board for Migration and Integration of the City of Ingelheim am Rhein.
