To enjoy the summer temperatures, blue skies and sunshine, many people move their activities outside in summer. Mild summer nights invite you to enjoy life with a nice barbecue and a good glass of wine with friends. Nature is also a hive of activity, with many insects flying from flower to flower in the colourful meadows to collect nectar. Here are some suggestions on how to enjoy Ingelheim with all your senses in summer.

Smell Ingelheim

In the summer months, you can smell all kinds of different odours in nature. Above all, the typical aromas of roses, lavender and lilies in bloom. On wet days, you can literally "smell" the unique scent of rain. And when you walk through the streets in the evening, you can smell an aromatic barbecue odour from every corner. The combination of the floral aroma paired with the fragrance of Ingelheim wine and delicious barbecue flavours can be experienced at many wine events in the outdoor areas of our wineries. Just drop by and take a look.

Our tip for hot summer days: smell the history of Ingelheim wine at the multimedia wine experience exhibition "Cellar Comrades"! As you descend to the second basement level of the Ingelheim wine cellar, you can smell the scent of the wine cellar and a station with aromatic flavours brings the history of wine to life. Afterwards, enjoy a fruity and refreshing summer wine on the marvellous terrace of the wine cellar with a view of the Rheingau wine region.

Taste Ingelheim

Summertime also means harvest time. You can buy fresh berries and cherries at the many street stalls and savour the fruity taste of the current season. A real treat is to enjoy an ice cream or coffee in the cafés in the Neue Mitte when the weather is nice. A picnic on warm summer evenings in our beautiful vineyard landscape is particularly cosy. Our wine tables are ideal for this, allowing you to savour the Rhine-Hessian way of life with "Weck, Worscht & Woi". A tangy sundowner rounds everything off. If you wish, you can also order ready-made picnic rucksacks from the tourist information centre in the wine cellar.

Our tip for hot summer days: the red wine town of Ingelheim is not just about wine! The "Goldener Engel" brewery brews its own beer, which is not only delicious on hot summer days. A visit to the beer garden is always worthwhile.

See Ingelheim

"I see the starry sky" - who doesn't know the song by Hubert Kah, which is very appropriate for clear summer evenings. And if you're lucky, you might even see a shooting star or two. But summertime also means holiday time, when there is a lot to do and see. Even in Ingelheim! On a boat tour "Around the Mariannenaue", you can see and admire the wonderful wine culture landscape of two wine regions at once while enjoying the refreshing breeze.

Our tip for hot summer days: If you're not necessarily a sun worshipper and want to move around in the shade, we recommend a walk along the Rheinauenerlebnispfad. The tall trees of the Rhine floodplains and the fresh Rhine wind make summer temperatures feel more pleasant and the panoramic views of the Rheingau are simply marvellous. A refreshing drink at the "Tassilo" wine stand on the Jungau rounds everything off.

Feel Ingelheim

Feel history, yes, you can! The tactile model in the castle church grounds in Ober-Ingelheim allows you to feel the history of this romantic neighbourhood. A number of anecdotes are told as part of a public guided tour. And the cool temperatures in the castle church make summer temperatures even more pleasant. You can feel the refreshing water on your skin during a visit to the outdoor pool in Ingelheim or the rheinwelle - Die rheinhessische Wasserwelt. Perfect places for a refreshing dip.

Our tip for hot summer days: the shady forest paths of the Waldblickrunde hiking trail are refreshing and ideal for a relaxing family walk. Of course, a visit to the Tiger-Garten-Waldeck is a must at the end.
