The already then rural settlement area of the Roman province Germania superior supplied the military and the civilian population of the provincial capital Mogontiacum (Mainz). Here, under Emperor Augustus from around 15 BC. A strong military base was built. Portrait statues and inscription panels from the Roman grave road in Ingelheim, settlement remains and objects from everyday life tell of the way of life, beliefs, customs and taste in fashion at that time. This colorful culture was shaped by Celts, Romans and soldiers from many provinces of the Roman Empire. Visual material to touch and try out brings the Roman era to life.
