Ingelheim, a red wine town

Wine & Pleasure

Ingelheim owes Karl the Great's passion for red wine and the cultivation of Burgundy vines. On the south side of the Rhine we offer you the Rhine-Hessian way of life and the contrast program to Rheingau Riesling: Ingelheim is the red wine town!

Emperor Charlemagne brought the first Burgundy vines to Ingelheim. Wine culture has been lived here ever since. The local winegrowers are particularly fond of the red grapes, because it is not for nothing that Ingelheim is also called the red wine town. For Rhenish-Hessian conditions, almost 50 percent of the area is planted with red vines.
