Winery Klein

The Klein winery is located on the edge of Mainz-Hechtsheim. We are a family run business. The family members are our most reliable helpers.
Viticulture has been around in our family for ages. However, we did not start bottling our wines until 1999. That was a 1999 Gau-Bischofsheim Herrenberg Dornfelder QbA. Thus, we can now look back on 20 years of bottled wine.
On our vineyards we produce 80% white wine and 20% red wine.

Our range includes about 10 white, rosé and red wines of different flavours.

We would be pleased to welcome you in our winery in Mainz-Hechtsheim.

Hechtsheimer Kirchenstück

Hechtsheimer Kirchenstück (Church Piece of Hechtsheim)

The only one - predestined for Silvaner and Riesling

The only vineyard in Hechtsheim, "Kirchenstück", is a gem: surrounded by the houses of the Mainz district, with a wide view of the hills in Rheinhessen, the river Rhein, Mainz Cathedral and Taunus. Silvaner and Riesling vines grow here on loess soil. In recent years, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and some red wine varieties have been added. The name of the vineyard, which was first mentioned in a document over 800 years ago, goes back to an old church estate. The wine festival in the middle of the single vineyard site is well worth experiencing: on a 500-metre-long course, the Hechtsheim winegrowers invite visitors to taste and enjoy the wines. The wine festival even was awarded with the "Rheinhessen AUSGEZEICHNET" seal of quality. By the way, the Mainz tram takes visitors directly from Mainz city center to the vineyard.
