During the cold season, Ingelheim is transformed into a magical setting with romantic flair. The low sun gives the wine-growing landscape a special light and invites you to take a cosy winter stroll through the sea of vines. In winter, the focus is particularly on socialising with friends and family during celebrations, public holidays and carnival with many special seasonal delights. You can enjoy Ingelheim with all your senses, even in all the capricious weather conditions that the season brings with it.
In addition to hearty dishes and alcoholic drinks, the carnival season also includes the indispensable sweet treats. Particularly noteworthy is the ‘Kreppel’, which is an absolute must during the carnival season. In addition to the classic version, there are now many creative new interpretations, whereby the ‘Fassenachts-Kreppel with red wine cream’ is particularly exciting.
Our bad weather tip: The ‘Engler'S’ restaurant in the Winzerkeller has been open since the beginning of February. The menu includes hearty classics as well as creative seasonal highlights and delicious wine accompaniments.
What could be nicer than taking a long walk through Ingelheim's wine-growing landscape on a snowy winter's day and hearing the snow crunching under your feet? From a distance, you can also hear the cheerful voices of children having fun sledging and bringing nature to life. We particularly recommend our hiking trails, which are also suitable for outdoor activities in winter.
Our bad weather tip: On long winter evenings, you can enjoy a reading in the ‘Ingelheimer Winzerkeller’.
You can feel the freezing temperatures and the cold, damp air on your skin. To warm up inside, people like to drink flavoured teas, punch or mulled wine. Just take a look at our winegrowers, who have their delicious ‘Glühwein 2024’ in their range, which is also an ideal drink for the street carnival.
Our bad weather tip: If the weather doesn't permit a walk in the countryside, you can also feel the warmth and cold with a visit to the sauna in the Rheinwelle. This is not only very refreshing, but also very healthy.
The winter season can be experienced with the naked eye: the days get shorter and it gets dark early. On cold winter days, there is frosty cold or even snowfall. When the sun shines, the ice crystals sparkle beautifully in the light and the clear, cold air lets you breathe deeply. The fifth season begins in our region on 11 November, and after New Year, the four-coloured flags of the carnival clubs' respective Narhallas can be seen from afar. Our event calendar also has numerous interesting events in store for long winter evenings.
Our bad weather tip: visit an event in our ‘kING’ culture and congress centre
